Our trip to Dublin December 2014

Our trip to Dublin this year was most enjoyable. The weather was dry and very mild, unlike the lashing rain we left behind us in Ballinasloe!
Dublin at this time of year is wonderful. The decorations and Christmas lights were delightful and the shop windows encouraged us into the shops. I always like to see the Crib at the GPO and moving toys and little animals. It's wonderful to see the little children looking and moving with the toys. The Millennium Spire looked majestic, standing there, amongst all the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers.
Wynns Hotel welcomed us back for our stay. We have been going there now for about twelve years in a row. The management make us very welcome. They have modernised their rooms without losing the ambience of the hotel.
We went to the Abbey Theatre on our first night and saw Oliver Goldsmith's play "She Stoops to Conquer". It was just amazing. The actors and actresses gave of their best and we wondered how they could retain so much. Caroline Morahan, from "Off the Rails" on the television, made her theatre debut and her father in the play, Mr.Hardcastle, was played by Jon Kenny. This play runs until the end of January and is well worth a visit.
Next day we took a bus tour to Malahide and it's very interesting castle. We continued on then to Howth. It was a beautiful evening and our guide was very knowledgeable and very entertaining also.
On the following day we returned home. We were very pleased with how well our visit went.
