The Editor would like to receive articles about the life and times of members who have contributed to our organisation. Also we would like to keep alive the memory of members who have passed on.
We have added a members profiles to the 'SECTIONS'on top right of page
Editor
Founded in March 2002, the Association now has 200 members. Our aim is to enhance the physical, social & psychological well-being of retired people in the Ballinasloe area. Through our range of programmes, we encourage our members to enjoy life, maintain their independence, cultivate social contacts, make new friends, acquire new skills, share experiences & continue to contribute to the community CONTACT : ballinasloeactive@gmail.com

Photos of Our Past
Click here to access a schools-based Online Photographic Archive Gallery containing images of Ireland in times past. Many of these photographs were donated by members of the Ballinasloe Active Retirement Association.
The photographs are divided into thematic sets. Information (names etc) of individuals appear as your cursor glides over the image. Visitors are encouraged to pass on any additional information that they may have such as Year, Location etc.

Ballinasloe
- Béal Átha na Slua (Ford at the mouth of the River Suck)
- Ballinasloe occupies a strategic location on the N6 National Primary route linking Dublin and Galway and is one of the principal gateways to the West. The town owes its origins to its location as a crossing point on the River Suck, a tributary of the Shannon, on the boarders of Counties Galway and Roscommon. It is the largest town in County Galway after Galway City, and its hinterland extends up to twelve miles from the town boundary into County Galway, and up to six miles into County Roscommon. The population of the town is almost 6,000 with a further 8,000 residing in the environs.
