Sister Act Jan. 2012
Sister Act at the Grand Canal Theatre
Our most enjoyable musical to date was Sister Act. We just had a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment on our first outing of 2012 on January 7th. We are full of praise for the show, which came directly from the London Palladium. It was full of rhythm, blues, soul and disco, fabulous dance movements and glorious costumes and sets and lighting effects.
The central figure in the show is Delores, a singer who has witnessed a murder. The police have put her into protective custody in a convent. Disguised as a nun she quickly makes friends amongst the nuns but gives the wrong impression to the Mother Superior. When Delores listens to the nuns’ off-key choir she helps them to find their true voices and surprise the clergy and congregation and even the Pope. The Sisters help to protect Delores from the gang who are out to kill her but all ends well.
I haven’t enjoyed anything so much for a long time.
